Recently changed Magenta ink cartridge - new 935 XL - but getting "Cartridge Problem - One or more cartridges appear to be missing or damaged" message, and it won't print! Ink cartridge is genuine and correct for my printer. Have tried to follow all self-help, including cleaning the cartridge 'contact' as well as the contacts inside the printer, to no avail. Help! I really don't want to have to go buy a new printer because of this issue, and these cartridges aren't cheap. Thank you.

Thank you for the response. I used a Q-Tip dampened with an alcohol-based antiseptic and cleaned the contact on both the ink cartridge and inside the printhead, but it still wouldn't work. Finally, I swabbed around the round ink receptacle itself (INSIDE the printer), and it worked! Whew.

@Melelanihula, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I see that the printer is not accepting the Magenta ink cartridge.
Make sure you are using HP ink cartridges.
Check if the ink cartridges are properly inserted in the printer, you may refer to - Replace HP inkjet printer cartridges
Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Ink cartridge error
Insert the old ink cartridge(if available) and check if the error persists. If not, then the new one is defective.
If the error persists with 2 different ink cartridges, it could be an issue with the printer.
