Hi,
I have to change the cartridges very fast, I can print approximately 25 pages A3. The cartridge states it can print around 800 pages (so 400 A3) and I barely get a tenth of that number.
what can be the problem?

Hi @Davidm85
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
If you're experiencing significantly lower page yields than expected from your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e cartridges, here are some steps to consider:
1. Check Cartridge Authenticity
- Use Genuine Cartridges: Ensure you’re using genuine HP cartridges, as third-party or refilled cartridges can lead to lower yields and poor quality.
2. Review Print Settings
- Draft Mode: If you're printing in a high-quality mode, consider switching to draft mode for less critical documents to save ink.
- Print Density Settings: Adjust the print density in the printer settings to a lower level if possible.
3. Check for Software Issues
- Update Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. Check the HP Support website for the latest versions.
- Use the HP Smart App: The app can help monitor cartridge levels and optimize settings for efficiency.
4. Regular Maintenance
- Perform Print Head Cleaning: Clogged nozzles can cause excessive ink use. Run a print head cleaning cycle through the printer settings.
- Use the Printer Regularly: Regular use can help keep the print heads from drying out, which can waste ink during cleaning cycles.
5. Inspect Your Printing Habits
- Color vs. Black and White: If you frequently print in color, this can use more ink. Consider whether you can print in black and white for certain documents.
- Graphics and Images: Pages with heavy graphics and images consume more ink than text-only pages. Try optimizing your documents for ink efficiency.
6. Check for Firmware Updates
- Update Firmware: Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues with ink usage. Check the HP Support site for the latest firmware for your printer.
7. Monitor Ink Levels
- Use HP Smart App: Track ink levels to see how much ink you have left and monitor usage trends.

Hi,
I only have the printer from August 31st 2024.
When I check the report I printed a total of 934 pages (608 in color).
For that amount of pages I have used:
- 6 yellow cartridges (incl. 1 setup and 1 937e evoMore cartridge)
- 3 cyan cartridges (incl. 1 setup cartridge)
- 3 magentacartridges (incl. 1 setup cartridge)
- 3 black cartridges (incl. 1 setup cartridge)
They are all genuine hp cartridges. On the website hp stated that 800 standard pages should be normal.
This printer is making printing very expensive.

May i know what kind of documents you are printing ?
If you are prining text only maybe select fast draft and. Sometimes the documents we print use more ink depending on the mode you select.
