HP OFFICEJET 6958
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I just put in brand new HP ink cartridges, the exact name numbers, lot numbers and expiration date as the one that ran out of ink in my HP OFFICEJET 6958 and I am getting the message "The indicated cartridge is an older generation cartridge that does not work in your printer."  The black cartridge is the second cartridge from a two-pack that the first cartridge is the empty one I am replacing. One cartridge from the first pack worked, and now the second one is "older generation" and won't work? I have another two pack with different lot numbers but same expiration dates, tried one of those cartridges and got the same error!

I may never buy HP products again!!

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
