A few months ago my printer tricolor cartridge stopped printing the Magenta color. (What should have been red came out yellow in most cases). I bought a new tricolor cartridge and the problem was solved and the printer worked correctly for a month or so. Then the same problem started again....no magenta. It shows that the cartridge should still be more than half full. I have cleaned the cartridge a number of times now and still no magenta color. I hate to keep spending money buying cartridges when the same problem keeps happening after a short time. I do not use the printer often so I know it shouldn't be out of ink. Running a diagnostic test shows there is nothing wrong. Any ideas?

Hi Rachel571...
Thank you for your reply to my problem.
Yes, I've always used genuine HP printer cartridges for my printer. I have used the HP tool to clean the cartridges a number of times now but no change. I have even tried the Alignment tool knowing that alignment wasn't the problem. Both cartridges show they are still half full but I went ahead and ordered a new set of cartridges and will try changing the cartridges as soon as the new ones are delivered. I will update you when I get this done.

Hi.
I received the new HP cartridges today and put them in. Everything is working great now and all colors are printing.
The last time this happened, changing the color cartridge also worked but only for a few weeks. Then the magenta stopped printing even though the cartridge reading showed it was still more than half full. Hopefully it was just a bad cartridge and this new one will keep on working.
Thank you for your help.
