I own an HP Officejet Pro 8610. Installed a new official HP cartridge to replace an empty one. Received the message "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged". Replaced the one new cartridge with another new cartridge and received the same message for the same color (Y). Do not know what "Close the print carriage latch" means.
Thanks for any help. [personal information removed]

Hello @WaltE ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

You replaced the "HP 951 Yellow" cartridge.
Check the latch, see Reseat the printhead if it is replaceable. Look for a latch on the carriage.
This refers to the lever that fixes the printhead.
And check that the cartridges are seated correctly, Replace cartridges for printers that use 951
Next print the Printer Status Report
- From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then
touch Setup. - Touch Print Reports and then touch Printer Status Report.
Then upload here, click on the icon "Insert photos", "Set format = Large", original size at least 200 KB.
But before you must remove or delete the personal data and printer serial number on the printout.
Keep me posted.
