showing printer cartridge error with new cartridge...I tried 2 new cartridges, one is genuine HP, one is not. The empty cartridge is also not a genuine HP and works fine except it is empty so print quality is bad. Both new cartridges produce printer error. Old cartridge does not.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting a cartridge error, follow these steps to fix the issue.
Perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
- Turn on the printer.
Update the printer firmware

I am having the same problem. I have already done all the steps recommended by the Virtual agent, including cleaning the contacts, checking for updates, resetting the printer etc..... still having the same problem. Why all of a sudden is this happening to HP printer owners. Is this a way to get us to buy a new printer??????? The empty 63XL is recognized but not the new one with ink.....?????

Welcome to the HP support community.
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

I have tried everything I know. I even Uninstaller the printer but now since there is no ink I can't read the new pin it requires. I am ready to take this printer to the dumpster. I have wasted too much time and money on it. This is the 3rd time over the years I've tried HP printers and each time I am disappointed. I love the printer when it works. Right now I hate it.
