The printed photos look great straight from the printer, then the toner separates and leaves white blotches. Next time I print, toner smears appear on the printed sheets.  I am using HP glossy 200 Photo paper and have set the printer for that paper.  The paper is a few years old.  Is this a paper or printer problem?  Thank you for your help.image.jpg

It could be either, one thing to try is print the same picture on a piece of plain paper. Possible causes of this issue are a fuser that just cannot maintain a high enough temperature to bond the toner correctly and it lifts up and gets stuck to the fuser roller and is deposited on the paper on your next print. If the humidity level of the paper is too high due to moisture absorption during storage then tiny bubbles of steam can cause the toner not to bond.

It is also possible that this paper is just too heavy for this printer to bond properly on. The actual paper weight specs for this printer were something  I could not find, just a generic description of paper weights.

I've used this photo paper before and haven't had a problem, but it was several years ago.  The specific paper is listed when I bring up paper type in the print menu.  I'm in AZ, so moisture shouldn't be a problem.

The photos print well on plain paper, and this will do.  However, I would like to have them on photo stock if I can make it work.

Is there a way to determine if it is a heat problem with the fuser roller?  Before buying a new packet of photo paper, I would like to rule out other problems.

Thank you again for your help.
