HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer stopped printing black ink. It is connected to the Internet so it receives all updates when available. I have tried ALL the diagnostic procedures multiple times. I replaced the full black cartridge with a new one (I only use genuine HP cartridges and they are expensive). No resolution.

HP has removed their live agent support page and I'm going in circles on the website for help. Does anyone have a real solution other than buying a new printer?? I need a printer now.

FINALLY reached a human! After trying all diagnostics again, it was concluded that the printer is too old and past support. I need to purchase a new printer. 😞

Hi @BohemianGirl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I hear your Concern, and I understand how it can be when your printer stops working right when you need it most. You’ve already done a lot of the right steps, and I appreciate the effort you’ve put in.

Since your Photosmart 6520 is an older model, Before we move forward, could you share what kind of HP printer you’re looking for next? For example, do you prefer something more compact for home use, a high-volume printer for heavy workloads, or perhaps a laser printer for sharp text and reliability?

Knowing your preferences will help me recommend the best fit for your needs. HP offers a wide range of options, from the HP Envy Inspire series for everyday home printing, to the HP OfficeJet Pro series for productivity, and even the HP Smart Tank series if you want lower running costs with refillable ink.

Here are a few HP printer recommendations that could serve as excellent replacements:

HP Envy Inspire 7955e - Great for home use, wireless printing, Instant Ink eligible

HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e - Fast printing, duplex, ideal for small office productivity

HP Smart Tank 7602  - High-volume printing, refillable ink tanks, cost-efficient

HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe - Compact monochrome laser, sharp text, very reliable

I hope this helps.

Hello Deep_World,

Thanks for your reply. Both my DeskJet 5550 (from 2002) and Photosmart are older printers, but they DID work before Windows OS updates. Needless to say, because of their age, the expense of ink, no support, and not having a printer, I took both printers to Best Buy and purchased a new HP Smart Tank 6001 Wireless All-in-One. I'm hoping this saves a lot of money buying ink and will last for several years.
