Hi @meakidani,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We’re here to help you get your printer back to delivering crisp, clean printouts, just the way it should. You've already done a great job by cleaning the printheads and running the alignment process, that’s an important first step.

If you're still noticing that black ink is missing or looks faded, don’t worry. Here’s what we recommend trying next to bring back that sharp black output:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Make sure the black cartridge has enough ink.
  • Replace any low or empty cartridges.
  • Use genuine HP cartridges—non-HP or refilled ones can cause issues.

2. Clean the Printhead (Multiple Levels)

  • Open the HP Smart App.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Tools > Print Quality Tools.
  • Select Clean Printhead.
  • If the first cleaning doesn’t help, repeat the process for Level 2 and Level 3 cleaning.

3. Clean Ink Smears

  • In the HP Smart App, go to:
    • Tools > Alignment & Maintenance > Clean Ink Smear.

4. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reinsert the black cartridge.
  • Make sure there’s no protective tape left on the cartridge.
  • Avoid touching the copper contacts or ink nozzles.

5. Replace the Black Cartridge

  • If cleaning doesn’t help, the black cartridge may be clogged or defective.
  • Replace it with a new genuine HP cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
