I bought my printer in March 23. I have only used it once or twice. The colour and black ink are showing as ok on app. The cartridges came with the printer. Basically, it's printing grey and lines aren't clear with text. I followed help instructions to open smart app and click the printer icon to access settings, but the printer icon opens a window to take me to my docs or photos (no other settings). I have tried every link on the app but cannot find the settings where one can test/or do printer maintenance. Can anyone help me to - first find the settings I need and secondly sort out the printing in grey instead of black? Thanks

Hi @Dobbiesox,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're having trouble with your HP Deskjet 4130e printer not printing correctly, and you're unable to access the printer settings through the app. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Ink Levels:
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have enough ink. If the app is showing that the ink levels are okay, they should be fine. However, sometimes the app's ink level indicator can be inaccurate.
Clean the Printhead:
- Most HP printers have a built-in utility for cleaning the printhead. Check your printer's manual to see how to access this feature. It's usually in the printer's settings menu.
Alignment:
- Some HP printers have an alignment feature that can help improve print quality. Look for this in your printer's settings.
Print Quality Settings:
- In the app, look for the print quality settings. You might be able to adjust the quality to a higher setting for better print results.
Calibration:
- Some printers require periodic calibration. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to calibrate it.
Software Update:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware and the app are up to date. Sometimes, updates can improve performance and compatibility.
Reinstall the App:
- If you're having trouble accessing printer settings through the app, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. This may resolve any software glitches that are preventing you from accessing printer settings.
Manual Access to Settings:
- If the app doesn't provide access to printer settings, you can try accessing the printer settings through your computer. Go to your computer's control panel or settings, find the devices and printers section, and locate your HP printer. You may be able to access printer settings and maintenance options from there.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
