I replaced the HP 902XL printer cartridge in my HP OfficeJetPro 6968 with a new HP 902XL printer cartridge.  Now, the printer is telling me that is an older model cartridge that does not work in my printer.  It's the same cartridge I just took out.  Help

I finally got through to HP support on the phone.  The agent I talked to (Wilson) said he could not help me because it was out of warranty (cartridge and printer).  I explained that this was not a warranty issue.  HP changed the set up on my printer so it would no longer accept the cartridge I had previously used and Had two more of (I bought a 3 pack directly from HP).  Wilson said he could not help me.  I asked to speak to a supervisor and shortly thereafter, he told me as an exception HP would send me two new cartridges to replace the two that did not work.  (Wilson had me try both cartridges to ensure they were both having the same problem)  A label has been created for the order with the new cartridge/cartridges.  Wilson told me he would send two cartridges, the order says one.  I will never buy anything from HP again.

I installed non-hp cartridges and it worked fine until today now i get an error message telling me the firm ware has blocked 2 cartridges because they're not hp??

I have the exact same problem with my HP OfficeJet Pro 8715, that the printer do not accept the cartridges because "they are from an older generation of cartridges, that do not work in my printer, but still will work on some older generations of printers". I have tried with 5 original "new"/unused cartridges with warranty ending 2020 ... no one works 😞 And those I want to replace are of course even older.

 

It is just incredible 😞 It seems that if your cartridge is beyound warrantydate, it does not work, even if it is an unused cartridge. I think this is very similar to stealing, what HP is practising here
