HP OfficeJet 4655 wireless printer. I tried cleaning the cartridges and also replacing them with new ones but was unsuccessful. Is there anything else I can do? Is this a driver issue or is the printer too old to repair?

@Ron52a, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're seeing the error message "Remove and reinstall the indicated ink cartridge" on your HP OfficeJet 4655 even after cleaning and replacing the cartridges. Let's walk through some steps to resolve this issue.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Check Cartridge Compatibility
Ensure you're using genuine HP ink cartridges compatible with the OfficeJet 4655:
- HP 63 Black and HP 63 Tri-color
You can verify cartridge compatibility here:

Reset the Printer
A simple reset can sometimes clear internal errors:
- Turn the printer on.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer on if it doesn't power up automatically.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts
Even new cartridges can have contact issues. Here's how to clean them:
- Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door.
- Remove the indicated cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the gold-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
- Let everything dry for 5 minutes.
- Reinstall the cartridge and close the door.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can cause cartridge recognition issues.

Try a Different Cartridge
If the issue persists with a new cartridge, try another one if available. Sometimes even new cartridges can be defective.
I hope this helps.
