I am getting a printer failure message on the display.  It says "There is a problem with the printer or ink system.  Turn off then on."  That did not correct the issue.

There is no error code displayed.  Using the Print and Scan doctor I see that the Cyan cartridge has a shaidFailure.  I removed all cartridges and cleaned the contacts with alcohol. It made no difference with the Cyan cartridge.

The printer works fine as a scanner!

Thanks....

@lloydalan, Welcome to HP Support Community!

If you have already performed the steps from the document 'Printer Failure' Error and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply.  I did talk with Tech Support.  I had tried all sorts of troubleshooting prior to calling them.

I felt, after talking to this guy, that all he wanted me to do was to pay $99 and get further help.  I kept on asking him if he had ever seen that error code.  He never answered that question.  It's hard to believe that no one has seen this error before.  It may be worth it to replace that cartridge that flagged that error.  If that doesn't correct the issue, the printer will occupy a place in my recycle bin.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
