Hi @Jlynn53,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your HP Envy 4655 printer is not accepting the new HP 63 ink cartridge, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the cartridge is compatible with your HP Envy 4655 printer. HP 63 is indeed a compatible cartridge for the HP Envy 4655, but verify that the cartridge is genuine HP and not a counterfeit or refilled version, which might not be recognized by the printer.

Reinsert the Ink Cartridge:

  • Turn on your printer.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridge and inspect it for any protective tapes that might not be removed completely. Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly in its correct slot until it clicks into place. Ensure it is inserted in the right orientation.

Perform Printer Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait for about a minute, and then plug the power cord back into the power source and the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Clean Ink Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn the printer on and open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Gently clean the ink cartridge contacts using a dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Reseat the cartridges and close the access door.

Printer Firmware Update:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Go to HP's official website and download any available updates for your printer model.

Check for Error Messages:

  • If there is any error message displayed on your printer screen, refer to the user manual or the HP website for specific instructions related to the error.

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If the issue persists, try using another genuine HP 63 cartridge. This helps determine if the cartridge itself is faulty.

Take care and have an amazing day!
