Hi,

 

I have an HP Envy 6000 printer which has recently started printing only the outline of black text, i.e. the words aren't filled in.

 

I'm printing from the HP Smart App (which is up-to-date) on an Android 12 phone. The cartridge ink levels are fine. 

 

I have updated the printers firmware and run several print head cleaning cycles, but the problem still persists.

 

Is anyone able to offer any help please?

Welcome to the HP Support Community

 

I understand you are facing a printing issue with your HP ENVY 6000 All-in-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

To assist better:

 

  • Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?
  • Does the copy print out the same way? 
  • What's the application you are trying to print from? 
  • Have you tried printing from a different application or device? 

While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain: 

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

If the issue persists, then please uninstall HP Smart from your phone and just try printing using HP Print Service Plugin.

 

Print with the HP Print Service Plugin

  • Print photos, documents, emails, or webpages from Android apps.
  • Open the item you want to print, tap the Menu icon , and then tap Print. If the app you are using does not have a Print option, tap the Share icon or look for a Share option in the Export or Send menu, and then select HP Print Service Plugin or the Print icon .
  • On the preview screen, tap the Down arrow to view the printer list, and then select HP [your printer model name] to print over the network, or DIRECT-xx-HP [your printer model name] to print with Wi-Fi Direct.

  • Tap the Down arrow to change any print settings, such as paper size or orientation.
  • Tap the Print icon .
