Hello,
i hope someone can help me. My Printer is not accepting my cartridge anylonger. The Printer is throwing an error, that the cartridge is not correct inserted in the printer. I need to say this cartridge is not originally accessories. What i've already tried is to clean the connectors, set it back to factory settings, try another cartridge, install newest firmware. I don't know what i can do now?
Thank you for the support.

I am having the same problem.... I've spent over £60 on replacement (NON-HP) ink cartridges only to find that the new firmware now makes sure that they won't work in my printer any more....
It's larceny to charge 10p a page to print at home! My partner is doing a degree course and needs to print lots of articles for reading..... but at 10p a sheet.... HP can go and do one.
But this must be their KODAK moment or their RATNER moment?
I don't mind paying a penny a page for ink.... and if I did, I'd be buying HP ink all day long... and using lots of it....
At 1p a page, HP would still be making a healthy profit too....
But they are hell bent on causing environmental chaos by rendering perfectly good printers useless - and sending them to landfill or recycling because people can't afford to pay the MOB for their ink (I say MOB, it could be an ink CARTEL)?
Either way, I'm gutted..... because I love the 7740 workstation printer.
But I literally can't afford the ink!
And so much for the voluntary code of practice - It's certainly not possible to use the printer with 3rd party ink any more.
I feel like going to HP and throwing my printer through their CEO's office window!
What a waste of a perfectly good printer
multiply that by a million and you have an environmental catastrophe
Needless to say, the words I'd use to describe this practice are unprintable

@anlo1904, @Disgusted-stINK, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
HP does not recommend the use of non-HP or refilled ink cartridges. It may or may not work. HP cannot guarantee its functionality.
Note: Non-HP ink cartridges can damage the printing mechanism.
Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge
If the issue persists, use HP ink cartridges. You may visit Hp Store to buy the compatible ink cartridges.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Kumar,
Thank you for your response on behalf of HP.
I reluctantly decided to use HP inks as I thought it would make sense to join the monthly ink plan - it wasn't going to be cheap but I thought it was worth paying the price to avoid all the hassle.
And guess what....
My printer isn't one that qualifies for the ink plan!
So back to square one.
Anyway.... After seeing that HP inks are priced at the obscene price of £180,000,000 gazillion pounds for a set of inks, I realised that I only had one other option.
So I purchased a set of remanufactured cartridges for £48.00.(still too expensive!) and this time they worked!
I also sent the other set back.
I will never pay the HP price for ink..... It's utter larceny to charge 10p a page to print a document!!!
I don't understand, when the production cost is so low, why does a multinational not price consumables differently?
You would make a profit at £30.00 so why push people away by charging £130.00?
I will simply not engage with the scam and it sullies the name and reputation of HP.
Very disappointing.
