HP Office jet 5200All in One series.
I tried the suggestions provided: clean contacts with distilled water, turn computer off, unplug, restart, re-install cartridges. Tried this 3 times with no success. Any other suggestions?

Hi @Nancy2147,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 5200 All-in-One printer is still not communicating with the cartridges after trying those steps, here are a few more suggestions you can try.
- Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve communication issues with cartridges. You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or HP's support website.
- Reset the Printer: Perform a power reset on the printer. This involves unplugging the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet, waiting for about 1-2 minutes, and then plugging it back in. This can sometimes reset any internal errors.
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your HP OfficeJet 5200 series printer. Using incompatible cartridges can cause communication issues.
- Inspect Cartridge Contacts: Check the cartridge contacts inside the printer where the cartridges make contact. Ensure there is no debris or ink buildup that could be obstructing communication. Clean these contacts gently with a lint-free cloth if needed.
- Try Different Cartridges: If possible, try installing a different set of cartridges to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the cartridges themselves or with the printer.
By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to determine the cause of the communication issue with your printer cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
