Hi @Elliebobs,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've already tried removing and reinstalling the ink cartridges multiple times and the issue persists, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check for Protective Tape: Ensure that you've removed any protective tape or packaging from the ink cartridges before inserting them into the printer.
- Clean Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the ink cartridges or inside the printer can get dirty or covered in ink residue, which can interfere with the connection. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer. Be sure to let them dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
- Reset the Printer: Try resetting the printer to its default settings. You can usually do this by accessing the printer's menu or settings options. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
- Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues or bugs that may be causing the problem. Check the HP website for instructions on how to update the firmware for your specific printer model.
- Replace Cartridges: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that one or more of the ink cartridges are faulty or damaged. Try replacing the cartridges with new ones to see if that resolves the problem.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue with your HP ENVY 5544 printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
