In the middle of a print job, my printer stopped printing from the queue. I checked the ink and printed the alignment page and the test page. Both were perfect. Now however, the machine seems to be printing, but just kicks out blank pages. I would appreciate any help. THX

Hi @txfishbutt,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer only printing test page!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Your HP DeskJet Plus 4152 is printing blank pages even though the alignment and test pages worked fine. This could be due to a software glitch, clogged printheads, or a driver issue.
Try these steps to fix it:
Restart Everything
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from power for 2 minutes.
- Restart your computer as well.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try printing again.
Clean the Printhead
Since the test page worked, ink might not be properly flowing during normal printing.
- On your printer’s control panel, go to Settings → Maintenance → Clean Printhead.
- If using HP Smart App, find Printer Maintenance and select Clean Printhead.
- Try printing again.
Check the Print Queue & Restart the Spooler
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll down and find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
- Try printing again.
Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Go to Control Panel → Devices & Printers.
- Right-click your printer and select Remove device.
- Download the latest driver from HP’s website and reinstall it.
- Try printing again.
Print Using the HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart App and try printing from there.
- If it prints correctly, your default printer settings may need to be adjusted.

Hi @txfishbutt,
Thanks for trying those steps and updating me! 😊
Since your printer prints the information/test page just fine, but won’t print from the computer, that tells us the issue is almost definitely software or connection-related, not hardware.
Let’s try a few deeper steps to get this sorted out:
Check Default Printer Settings
Sometimes Windows assigns a "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" or “Fax” as the default.
Press Win + R, type control printers, and hit Enter.
Find your HP printer.
Right-click it → Set as Default Printer.
Try printing again.
Clear Stuck Print Queue
Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
Scroll to Print Spooler → Right-click → Stop.
Now go to: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS → Delete all files inside.
Go back to services → Start Print Spooler again.
Try printing now.
Reinstall Drivers Cleanly
Even if you tried before, let's do a clean install to eliminate any driver corruption:
Disconnect the printer from USB/Wi-Fi temporarily.
Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers → Right-click → Remove the printer.
Press Win + R, type printui /s /t2 → Remove all HP drivers listed.
Restart your PC.
Download & install the latest full driver package for your model from HP's website.
Reconnect the printer when prompted.
Test Using HP Smart App or Web Services
Open the HP Smart app → Try printing a document or photo.
If that works: it’s likely your printing program (e.g., MS Word or browser) needs a printer reset.
I hope this helps.
