After replacing my cyan cartridge the printer mistakenly reported empty the new cartridge (a third-party one). I used the hp assistant to force an ink check, but all that did was to lock down the printer in an ink system error and now it's impossible not just to print, but even cleaning the printer heads or other common software manteinance. I tried replacing the cartridge with another, new one but the printer doesn't even seem to recognize the difference and the ink panel is stuck with the old levels of two days ago.
Resets and drivers reinstall did not help, in fact it didn't even force the software to change the previoulsy reported ink level. The Dynamic Cartridge protection is, of course, disabled.
I need a solution that will either force a reset of the current data within the printer or that will bypass the ink check. Thanks for reading.

Hi @Vtr50,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I'd like to help!
I understand you are unable to print using a non -HP ink cartridge.
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello Jay, thanks for answering.
My problem is that the printer remained stuck even after a second cartridge replacement, as if it didn't even notice that the cartridge was not the same. Now, I could easily buy an original pack of HP cartridges if that helps unstucking the printer but I'd rather not waste 20$ if there's instead a chipset problem.
I'd rather have some means to reset the printer (you can't do it anymore-it's just stuck and the panel won't respond) or just a program to straight-up bypass the checks and force the printer to work anyway. Can you point me toward a software solution?

I'm starting to suspect that the issue is that the cartridge leaked ink and somewhat made a mess, but the cartridge box has no lever to pull out the printer heads. I might need some help to understand how to remove them safely, so that I can wash them and try again with fresh cartridges once it's all clean.
Can you link me some technical manual on how to remove and clean the 7612 heads, or even just explain the process to me?
Thank you.

You may refer to the printyer and manual and documemt to know how to remove the printhead.
Userguide -http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03682000.pdf

Let me know how this goes!

Unfortunately, there is no latch on the side of the printhead so I can't easily remove them and the user manual doesn't enter into technical details so much to explain how to unassemble it. I'd need to know which screw to turn and how replace it safely, but I can find no online documentation about it.

It really doesn't help much, since it only means that I have to throw away my basically new printer now. I expected a lot more value from this hardware and having to trash it because of an ink smudge is insane and wasteful.
You have been helpful, but your company is terrible.
