Hi @snap4ward,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the firmware update might have triggered a security feature that’s now preventing your printer from working. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

  • Check for Additional Updates: Sometimes, additional updates or patches are released to fix issues caused by a recent firmware update. Check the HP website or use the HP Smart app to see if there’s a new update available for your printer.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a factory reset on your printer. This can sometimes clear errors caused by firmware updates. The exact process for resetting your printer can be found in the printer's user manual or on the HP support website.
  • Reinstall Printer Drivers: Uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers on your computer. Go to the HP website, download the latest drivers for your printer model, and install them.
  • Check for Firmware Rollback: In some cases, HP might offer a way to roll back to a previous firmware version if a new update causes significant issues. This would typically be something you’d need to do through HP Support. Update the firmware on an HP printer

I hope this helps.
