@TessieB, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Print Quality Issues with Labels on HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you experience print quality issues such as ink coming off or remaining wet after printing labels with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

Use the Correct Media Type:

  • Ensure you have selected "Labels" as the media type in the printer settings before printing. This can be set in the print driver under media type options. The printer optimizes ink placement based on the type of media selected.

Check the Labels' Adhesive Tolerance:

  • Verify that the adhesive material on your labels can tolerate temperatures of 190°C (374°F) for 0.1 second, as required by the printer’s fusing process. Labels that do not meet this tolerance may cause the ink to not adhere properly.

Inspect Label Sheets:

  • Ensure that the label sheets you are using are not older than two years, as older labels might peel off or cause adhesion problems during printing leading to ink spreading.

Load the Labels Properly:

  • Make sure labels lie flat in the input tray. Avoid using labels that are wrinkled, bubbled, or otherwise damaged.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure the tray’s media type is set to LABELS in the printer control panel. Incorrect settings may negatively affect print quality.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you. I have been able to resolve it.

However, now I have another issue that the colors change every time I printed the same picture out and some of the colors did not show properly. Do you know that it's because of the toners since I just changed them last month but not HP brand.
