The problem is the cartridges. I was sent a replacement printer and no ink. I was told the ink in my original printer can be used in the replacement printer but the cartridges do not work. It says that they are Protected and can only be used in the printer that initially protected them.

On your old printer you have activated cartridge protection option and now those cartridges are protected and can be used only in your old defective printer. Those cartridges are now useless.

If you hadn't protected them then they would work just fine.
