@nino644, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're encountering issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer stating that it cannot print even after installing HP 902 black ink cartridge, it could be due to several potential reasons:

Firmware Update: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updated firmware is required for newer or updated cartridge versions to function properly. You can update your printer's firmware by visiting HP's firmware update page.

Cartridge Installation: Make sure that the cartridge is properly installed. Open the ink cartridge access door on the printer and ensure that the cartridge is firmly seated in its designated slot.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Products purchased from third-party sellers, like those on Amazon, should be confirmed as genuine. HP cannot guarantee the compatibility or performance of counterfeit or third-party refilled cartridges.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
