I have a small, home business making custom stickers and labels. The quality of my designs need to be superb to ensure a happy clientele. Had an old HP Envy 7640 that lasted me for years. It died about a year ago. Since then it's been printer Hades.
I've been through more than my share of printers that seem not to work right out of the box, or the print quality is so bad I return it. After 4 attempts in about 6 weeks last March, I finally bought another brand. It works okay, but I had some HP credit due to the last return, so I bought a HP Tango just for a home printer. That Tango had perfect color quality. The printers were beautiful and looked as crisp as my laser printer. The colors were true to life. Green looked green, red looked red, etc. My problem is that it's beginning to slow way down and show signs of heavy use. The monthly prints are significantly higher than suggested.
It's time for a new one! There aren't anymore Tangos or I would get another one.
My first attempt was an HP Envy 6255. Affordable, had great reviews. Color ink will not work for the life of me. Literally doesn't work after multiple cartridge attempts. Returning. Ugh.
Now I need a recommendation. What do I need?
1. Number one requirement is it has to be Instant Ink ready.
2. I have to have true to life colors. I know how to calibrate. If I see a red and green Christmas tree and I see the same thing on my screen upon photo review, I expect that printer to print the same colors.
3. The print color need to be great and not pixelated.
4. Under $500.
I am tired of trying printers, returning them and losing a little bit of money each time. Plus, HP supports sucks, so I don't want to have to deal with them anymore. Tired of being treated like I am ripping them off because I want to return a printer that literally will not turn on. Believe me, I don't want to be talking to them either. Make a decent product that works and maybe I wouldn't have to be contacting that rude support team. 😒
Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Thank you!
