HP Officejet Pro 8630 e-All-in-One Printer

I am receiving an error that "one or more cartridges appear to be damaged. Remove them and replace them with new cartridges." I have replaced with a brand new cartridge and get the same error. Any suggestion appreciated.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have already installed a brand-new cartridge but still see the error, follow these steps in order:

1. Perform a Power Reset

Turn off the printer using the Power button.

Unplug the power cord from the printer.

Wait 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

2. Reinstall the Cartridge

Open the ink cartridge access door.

Remove the cartridge that is showing the error.

Reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place.

Close the access door.

3. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

Turn off and unplug the printer.

Open the ink access door.

Using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water, gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge.

Let the contacts dry completely.

Reinsert the cartridge and close the door.

4. Update Printer Firmware / Software

Go to HP Support (website).

Search your exact printer model.

Install any available firmware updates, as outdated firmware can trigger false cartridge errors.

5. Verify You Are Using Genuine HP Cartridges

Non-HP or refilled cartridges can often cause this error.

If the cartridge is third-party, try replacing with a genuine HP one.

6. Reset Printer to Factory Settings

Go to the printer’s Settings / Setup menu.

Look for Restore Defaults or Reset to Factory Settings.

Confirm the reset.

7. Check for Physical Issues or Obstructions

Open the access area and ensure:

No paper is stuck.

No debris is blocking the carriage path.

The carriage moves freely from left to right.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
