Every page has blotches of red along the left edge. It looks like multiple cartridges have toner along that edge, especially the red one. And I found toner inside the printer in places I assume it should not be. What do I need to do?Sample printSample printMagenta cartridgeMagenta cartridgeIMG_0531.jpegIMG_0528.jpegIMG_0529.jpeg

Hi @jonhill,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a print quality issue with your HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dn. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?
  • Does the copy print out the same way?
  • What's the application you are trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing from a different application or device?
  • do you still see the marks when you print a  blank paper
  • Please help to verify if there are any dent marks on the transfer belt

While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page -Post the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so we can help you further.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove the USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

After reviewing other posts here, I replaced the magenta toner cartridge with a new one. (Both were genuine HP cartridges.) This eliminated the problematic blotches that you can see by looking at the images that I attached to my previous message. Nonetheless, I updated the firmware as you suggested and printed a Print Quality Diagnostic page. I have attached a photo of that page. I see minor banding, but no blotches with the new cartridge.IMG_0563.jpg

So does that Print Quality Diagnostic page I sent look like an optimal result? If so, then my remaining question would be about the defective cartridge that I replaced. It was a large capacity cartridge that still had 60% of its capacity remaining. Can I be reimbursed for the amount remaining that I will be unable to use?
