I have a printer that was purchased in Japan. It required 965 ink cartridges, I’m now in the US and cannot buy 965. I believe the 962 is compatible but I keep having issues with incompatibility.

I notified the moderator of the problem. Some of the new HP printers allow the owner to change the region code without assistance. Look in the users manual for details including how many changes you are allowed. If you have an older printer that does not describe the regionalization process then expand the spoiler below and wait for an agent to help you.

Changing the region code can be difficult as described here.

When an agent contacts you ensure that the agent is familiar with the OS you are using. If the agent is in a different time zone try to get one in your time zone. If that is not possible you may need to choose the best time to make a contact.

I read that only 2, 3 or 4 region changes are allowed. It depends on which AI bot I ask.

You may need WhatsApp to work through the region reset procedure.

In any event you need to do the following:

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. The cartridges must be genuine HP.
5. Make sure HP Smart or the HP App is installed.
6. If the printer is not under warranty, then the ink cartridges need to be in the warranty period.

2. You need to have the printer full-feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges from either the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it.
