HP Tango X
Product: HP Tango X
I have the same problem happened with another user, please also provide me the procedure of resetting the printer, thanks.

I have recently moved from Hong Kong to Canada with my HP Tango X printer. However, when I printed some documents yesterday and the ink is running low. So I went to buy HP 64 ink which is suitable for Tango X according to the box.

Nevertheless, when I replaced the ink in my printer it said I can’t use this ink. After some google search, I find that my printer have to change the region code to use Europe edition ink.

Can anyone help me to change the region code so that my newly bought Tango X can be used.

Thank you very much!

Hi @yinpatt,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to use HP 64 ink cartridges in your HP Tango X printer after moving from Hong Kong to Canada, you’ll need to perform a region reset. Your printer is currently region-locked to Asia (HP 803 or HP 682 cartridges), and HP 64 is the cartridge series for North America.

HP printers are region-locked based on where they were first set up. The HP 64 cartridges are not recognized by a printer originally configured for Asia-Pacific regions, which is why you're seeing the error.

To perform a Regional Reset, follow the steps below.

To perform a printer region reset, you need to meet the following conditions:

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer's full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally, or the new region/country to which you want to reset it.

4. Make sure the HP Smart App is installed too.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello,

  • The HP Tango X does not have a standard USB port for connection—it is wireless only.
  • Your instructions mention installing the printer’s “full feature software” on my computer, but do not explain what to do after installation.
  • You also say to install the HP Smart app, but there are no steps for what to do after opening the app.
  • There are no regional reset options or instructions in the app.

Can you please provide:

  • Clear, step-by-step instructions for a regional reset on the HP Tango X.
  • What exactly I need to do in the HP Smart app or full software after opening/installing it.

HP Tango X DOES NOT seems to have an USB port. Above is an example of "accepted solution" for HP Tango X. The condition does not involve using USB:

1. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

2. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.

3. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too

I purchased an official HP cartridges for $100 CAD, I would be very disappointed if my printer does not work with an official HP product.
