DeskJet 2600

Hello,

I need a regionalization reset for my HP DeskJet 2600 series (Product No. V1N05B).

The printer is configured for HP 304 region, but I now live in Cyprus where only HP 123 / 123XL cartridges are sold. I installed a genuine HP 123XL set and the printer reports “Incompatible cartridges” — both black and tri-color.

I have already opened the Set New Regions window. All required values — serial number, total page count, both cartridge IDs and RX — are ready and copied to clipboard. The self-test page showing fields 41–45 is also available.

I have not printed anything since opening the window, so the page counter has not changed.

Could you please enable private messaging on my account so I can share the values and receive the reset codes for fields 41–45 and 51?

Thank you.

Hi @gregi174,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for providing the detailed information. I understand that your HP DeskJet 2600 series (Product No. V1N05B) is currently configured for the HP 304 cartridge region, while you are now in Cyprus and need to use genuine HP 123/123XL cartridges.

HP printers use different ink cartridges in different regions. To use the cartridges sold in your current region, the printer's region settings need to be changed.

Before proceeding with the regional reset, please confirm the following:

  • Do you still have the original HP 304 cartridges from the previous region? Please keep them available, as they may be required during the regional reset. Do not dispose of them yet.

  • Which operating system are you using - Windows or Mac? Please note that the regional reset cannot be performed using a Mac computer.

Also, have you tried a regional reset before, or would this be your first regional reset?

  • This is important because if a regional reset has already been performed on the printer once, we may not be able to perform the regional reset again through this process. In that situation, you would need to contact our  HP Phone Support, as the reset would require remote assistance from our support team.

  • Once you confirm these details, we can advise you on the appropriate next steps.

Also, please note that the HP Community is not a live-chat support channel. We do our best to assist customers here as quickly as possible, but some procedures, such as a regionalization reset that requires reset codes or private handling of device information, may require assistance from an HP support representative.

If you need live assistance, please contact HP Phone Support or HP Chat Support, where an agent can work with you directly on the regional reset. We can help, but it's not instant live support; we do our best.

Important: After the printer's region has been successfully changed, the old-region HP 304 cartridges will no longer work with the printer. Please make sure you use the old-region cartridges before proceeding.

Hi @gregi174,

Thank you for confirming that you are using Windows. I understand that the original HP 304 cartridges are no longer available.

Before we proceed, could you please confirm which country/region the printer was originally purchased in before you bought it second-hand?

Since the printer is currently intended to be used in Cyprus, we need to know the printer's original region to determine the correct regionalization procedure.

Please provide the country where the printer was originally purchased. Once we have that information, we can advise you on the next steps.

Step 2:

1) Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2) Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3) Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4) If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

5) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in Private.
