I've not been able to speak to any representative that can help. I have been given 4 phone numbers.  the first call took an hour, they gave me another number... it didn't work.  back to the first number, they gave me two non-functioning numbers.  does anyone know who to contact?  I'm in China with my US-purchased 8610 and really need a region reset.  Thanks if anyone can help direct me to the right place!

Great 🙂

1. Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2. Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3. Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4. If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values here or take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in private.

I was just given a 5th and 6th number.  dialed them both with the very patient support person on the line, and neither phone number worked.  I am told that only an office in China can perform the reset, and it appears their contact information is a mystery to the HP support team.  they have escalated, and I hope to hear back in 24 hours or so.

@JimGGG

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help.

Which Printer do you have? To which device is it connected to? Which country was the Printer purchased in and where is it currently?

Let us know 🙂

Thanks!

Officejet 8610

purchased in the US, as I lived there at the time

it is now in China as my company has transferred me here.

i cannot purchase US-cartridges (Z10), and can only buy the asia cartridges (Z40)

i have replaced all cartridges with Z40, and simply need a regionalization reset.

I first contacted online chat.  then I called, and the person told me that they needed me to contact a US number during US working hours.  so I stayed up here in China to make the call.

however after >1.5 hours on the phone with different people, and multiple (~6) incorrect contact numbers (tried while on the phone with customer service), we concluded the call with a commitment from HP to send me an email within 24 hours with the proper contact information to resolve the problem.  I still have not received that email.

astonishingly poor follow-up.  and it required me posting this on a community website to get a response.

we are where we are.  can you help me?

To do a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region to which you want to reset it to.

Please do let us know.

and to be clear, for point #3, i have all the cartridges (new) from the Asia region (new region) installed.  I have retained the old cartridges from the US, but they are empty.  I need to set the region to Asia since that is where I now live
