Hi @DG2002.,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP OfficeJet 9015 and the issue where the new 962 cyan cartridge isn’t connecting. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Remove and reinsert the cyan cartridge
Open the ink access door and take out the cyan cartridge.
Reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place.
Check for any protective tape or seals
Make sure the orange pull-tab and protective tape are fully removed.
Verify the vent on top of the cartridge isn’t covered or blocked.
Inspect the cartridge chip and printer contacts
Look at the gold chip on the cartridge for damage, ink, or dust.
Gently clean it with a lint-free cloth if needed.
Also check the contacts inside the printer for any obstruction.
Restart the printer (power reset)
With the printer turned on, unplug the power cable from the back.
Wait 60 seconds, plug it back in, and let the printer reboot.
This resets the ink detection system.
Install the cyan cartridge alone
Remove all cartridges, then insert only the cyan one.
Check if it gets detected before reinstalling the others.
Check for cartridge compatibility
Confirm the cartridge is an HP 962/962XL and matches the printer’s region.
Third-party cartridges may fail to connect because of chip issues.
Update the printer firmware
From the printer’s control panel, check for updates and install any available.
This improves recognition of replacement cartridges.a
I hope this helps.
