I replaced the ink cartridge with an official HP 61XL carrying in my HP OfficeJet 5252 and a message appears in the printer

“the indicated cartridges are blocked because they contain non-HP circuitry. Replace to continue printing. More info at www.hp.com/learn/ds.”

These are authentic HP cartridges. What do I do??

Hi @SHicken,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering an issue where your HP printer is not recognizing a genuine HP cartridge and giving you an error message about non-HP circuitry, here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, simply restarting the printer can help it recognize the new cartridge correctly.
  • Verify the Cartridge: Double-check that you have installed the correct cartridge model (HP 61XL) and that it is genuine. Counterfeit cartridges can sometimes cause this issue.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and remove the cartridge. Clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely, then reinsert the cartridge and turn on the printer.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with cartridge recognition. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet 5252 printer and install them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
