My Black ink Printhead does not print correctly, prints very light grey, I have a Printhead to replace the one in the printer, but when I open the two doors the cartridges do not move to the center so I can remove the black printhead.  I have searched and read that if the machine does not find anything wrong with the printhead one cannot replace the printheads.  The printer does not print in black any longer and the first three to five lines are not printing correctly, prints half letters or not at all.  I need to change that black printhead because I have some printing waiting.  

Can anyone help me, please.

  • From when did the issue begin?
  • Are you using genuine HP Ink cartridges?

I have the exact same problem but with a 519. Tried doing a printhead clean, nothing. Ink is full. The printhead does not go into the middle. I have managed to get to the printhead, unseated it and resat it, still the same. The color work fine, grey scale works fine. Just the black, I can't get black to print.

The exact name of my product is:  HP Smart Tank Plus 551 Wireless All-in-One

From when did the issue begin? :  This issue started from day one of using it.  

Are you using genuine HP Ink cartridges? : Yes, I am using the ink the printer came with.

I need to tell you I have had health issues since I purchased the first printer, hospitalized twice, the reason why I am so late in the requests for help.

Thanks Anand_Andy,

I just completed all the Steps in the document you provided.
I did a Clean the Printheads three times and it helped for the the Test Pattern 1, but,  it did not do anything for the Test Pattern 2 and 3.  Gaps and lines at same places. 

I even did a Printhead Alignment and nothing has helped. 
I printed a document before the Steps and Alignment and the same after and they turn out the same one from the other, it did not help at all.  
Would you know how much it would cost me if I contacted someone to help me to remove the Printheads and insert the ones HP had sent me last year?  I would need to know the cost before I call a tech. because it can be more than the printer itself, you know.  So, so sad .
