I installed a new Black Ink XL Cartridge and got a "Supply System Problem" error. I install a different NEW Black In XL Cartridge and got the same message. I don't think it's the cartridge but maybe a hardware problem. Does anyone have an answer that would be helpful?

Hi @ReneCurbelo

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you're seeing a "Supply System Problem" message even after installing two different new Black XL cartridges. Since the same error appears with multiple new cartridges, it does suggest the printer may not be reading the ink supply system correctly rather than the issue being limited to a single cartridge.

Please try the following HP troubleshooting steps:

  1. Leave the printer powered ON.
  2. Remove the black cartridge and inspect the copper-colored electrical contacts for any protective tape, debris, or ink buildup.
  3. Reinstall the cartridge firmly until it is fully seated.
  4. If your printer uses multiple cartridges, remove and reseat all cartridges to ensure proper contact.
  5. With the printer ON, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  6. Wait about 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and power the printer back on.
  7. If the error remains, access the printer's control panel and check for any available printer firmware updates.

If the printer continues displaying "Supply System Problem" after these steps and after testing more than one new genuine HP cartridge, the printer may be detecting an issue within the ink delivery or cartridge detection hardware.

To help narrow this down further, could you share the exact HP printer model and the complete error code (if one is displayed along with the message)? This will allow us to provide model-specific HP guidance.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
