HP Tango X

Tango X is streaking while printing in color or just black. Black cartridge says half full, color says about 1/3 full. After cleaning 3 levels, aligning and smear cleaning it's still streaking. Put in brand new black cartridge and still streaking. Can't print clean labels with bar codes. Scanners probably won't be able to read with the streaks. Any suggestions?

Clean the Print Head and Nozzles:

  • Try cleaning the print head and nozzles using the printer's built-in cleaning utility. Follow your printer's user manual for specific instructions on how to do this.

Check Cartridge Levels:

  • Verify that the cartridges are correctly installed and securely seated in their respective slots. Make sure you've removed any protective tape or packaging from new cartridges.

Replace Cartridges:

  • Even if the ink levels indicate that the cartridges are not empty, they may still be old or dried up. Replace both the color and black cartridges with new ones.

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page to check if the streaking persists. This can often help identify whether the issue is with a specific document or with the printer itself.

Adjust Print Quality Settings:

  • In your printer settings, adjust the print quality to a higher setting (e.g., "Best" or "High Quality") to see if this resolves the streaking issue.

Use the Correct Paper Type:

Check for Physical Damage:

  • Inspect the printer's rollers, feed mechanisms, and other components for any signs of physical damage or debris. Clean any accessible parts carefully.

Replace Maintenance Kit (for Some Laser Printers):

  • Some laser printers require periodic replacement of maintenance kits, which include various components like rollers and fusers. If your printer is due for a maintenance kit replacement, it could help resolve streaking issues.
