When I lift the scanner bed of my Envy to replace the cartridges there appears to be ink residue all over inside the printer. It makes a mess. Would this be a problem that is covered by the warranty? What do I need to do?

Hi @BrickBarn,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're noticing ink residue inside your HP ENVY Inspire 7958e All-In-One Printer, it could be due to a few possible reasons. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue.
- Power off the printer: Start by turning off the printer and unplugging it from the power source. This step ensures your safety and prevents any further damage.
- Clean the ink cartridges: Remove the ink cartridges from the printer carefully. Inspect them for any leaks or excessive ink buildup. If you find any leaks, replace the affected cartridges. Wipe the cartridges with a clean, lint-free cloth to remove any excess ink.
- Clean the printhead: The printhead may have accumulated ink residue, affecting print quality. Consult your printer's user manual or visit the HP website for specific instructions on how to clean the printhead for your model. Typically, you will need to access the printer settings or maintenance menu to initiate the cleaning process.
- Clean the printer interior: Gently open the printer cover or any access panels provided to gain access to the printer's internal components. Be cautious while handling sensitive parts. Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the inside of the printer, including the rollers, paper path, and any visible ink residue. Avoid using excessive moisture or harsh cleaning agents, as they can cause further damage.
- Run a cleaning cycle: Some printers have a built-in cleaning function that helps remove any internal ink residue. Refer to your printer's user manual or online resources for instructions on how to initiate a cleaning cycle specific to your model.
- Check for damaged parts: While cleaning, inspect the printer for any damaged or broken parts that may be causing the ink residue. If you notice any significant damage, it's advisable to contact the printer's manufacturer or an authorized service center for assistance.
- Test print: After cleaning, reinstall the ink cartridges and run a test print to check if the print quality has improved and if any residual ink remains.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
