I recently replaced my toner cartridges with a third-party solution but the printer refuses to use them. Changing the Supply Setting Cartridge Policy and Cartridge Protection to OFF (they were always OFF) did not resolve the issue. Changing the Supply settings for Cartridge Policy and Cartridge Protection to OFF (which they seem to have always been) did not resolve the issue. What can I do to get third-party cartridges supported?
I am sorry I bought the printer as HP needs to be more forthcoming with their supplies policy. Based on this experience I will not be purchasing any new HP products.

Hi @BrutusCosmo,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are unable to print using non-HP toners.
Update the printer firmware-
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Jay_G24,
I started a conversation with my cartridge provider.
Can you answer the question - "Has HP now enabled blocking non-HP chipsets on their latest release of firmware?" The HP Community Ink and Toner areas have many similar reports of this recent change. I was able to use one of the suggestions from Redit to resolve the issue and the cartridges work just fine.
HP should make a statement about this change since it appears to impact many owners of HP printers.
