Hi all,

I've purchased a DeskJet 2720e printer. I've configured all and prints perfectly, Instant Ink activated, remote printing works... All is Ok, but the display shows an exclamation sign (next to the big number) and the Info LED is on.

Checking the cartridges in the settings, both cartridges are on GREEN (OK), but tri-color says "HP Instant Ink cartridge Not installed" (but works perfectly). Sorry I am in Spain and the screenshot is in Spanish.

If I remove the tri-color cartridge the exclamation and the Info LED desapears. So, I think this must be the problem.
(If I print the "printer info", it says that the printer has not internet connection, but it's false because I've printed from my smartphone staying out with no wifi). So, there's some problem with the cartridge, that makes to show the "error".

The black ink cartridge is fine. Should I ask HP for renew the tri-color cartridge?

Thank you!

Hi @IMN-3D-ARTIST

Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like there might be a communication issue between your DeskJet 2720e printer and the tri-color cartridge, especially considering that removing the cartridge resolves the exclamation mark and the Info LED turning on.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Reinsert the Cartridge: Remove the tri-color cartridge from the printer and then reinsert it firmly into the cartridge slot. Make sure it is securely seated.
  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the metal contacts on the cartridge or inside the printer may get dirty, which can disrupt communication. Gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually check for firmware updates through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP support website and searching for your printer model.
  • Reset the Printer: If the issue persists, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to your printer's user manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Gaya1239,

Thank you very much for your answer. I've tryed all you said but it stills same. I've just talked with HP Support and noticed that the tri-color cartridge is a SETUP cartridge, (the black is Instant Ink) and said this is the reason. I have more ink cartridges on the way, and he told me that when I replace the cartridges (at least tri-color) the exclamation will disappear.

I will wait until try that.

As I said, thank you very much Gaya for your response. Anyway I will try to clean the contacts, although the printer is new and should not have dirt on it.

The same for you, take care and have a nice day!
Kind regards!
