I have OfficeJetPro 6960. I am using a non-HP ink cartridge. It has run out and I replaced it with another one. When i change it to a new one (non-HP), it does not allow me to do so. It says non-HP cartridge detected, and something about firmware. I have tried different tricks posted in the internet, such as setting back to factory default, unplug power cord, go to its IP address etc. without any luck. I checked for printer updates and printer informs me that there's no new updates available.
What can I do? I cannot imagine that this is what HP does to make more money ... from selling ink cartridges ??
