I have two color LaserJet CP1518ni laser printers. One won't grab paper anymore, but the other works fine.

The cyan ink cartridge  (HP part CB541A) in the working one ran out. There was plenty of ink left in the cyan cartridge from the non-working one, so I took the mostly-full cartridge out of it and put it in my working printer.

Now, the working printer won't print in color because the printer has detected a "used supply" under the cyan cartridge.

Is there any way I can override this error message?

I am not trying to scam HP. I paid for this cartridge when new. The used cartridge came from another printer I own and it would be a waste if I had to throw it away mostly full because it isn't allowed in my working printer.

[edit] I just noticed that you mentioned ink cartridges and not toners.  Exactly what printer has the problem?

I do not see your CP1518 listed here, not sure what is stopping the toner from being used.

The firmware for your printer does not include any restrictions as far as I can tell.  I have an old CM1415 and it can use really cheap toners that are clearly not HP genuine.

Try updating or re-flashing the firmware.  Connect to a PC using USB and run this  2013 update
