HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm a Solider stationed overseas, and when I was sent to Europe, I naturally brought all my US acquired possessions with me.  My HP printer is compatible with European 220v specs, so it came too.  My printer was enrolled in the HP instant ink program back in the states, and for about a year, HP continued to send updated ink cartridges to my new APO address here in Europe.  Then suddenly, HP decided that it could no longer send me updated ink (despite billing me!).  So now my printer says that the ink I have (from HP) is no good ("cartridges cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP instant ink").  So upon contacting HP, they said there was nothing they could do.  So, I went and purchased authentic HP 903xl cartridges (the compatible version sold here in Europe for the 6978), but these did not work either.  So know I have a printer and ink that I can't use because either way, HP blocks the process.

So how do I get my printer to use the available 903 ink without being enrolled in the instant ink program since HP won't honor it (despite charging me for 6 more months of the program while telling me they can't mail ink to APO addresses -- even though they had been for the previous year!!!)?
