Hi @253647,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Follow these troubleshooting steps:
1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility
- Make sure the new cartridges you installed are compatible with your HP Officejet 6958 printer. The printer might require specific cartridges to function correctly.
2. Reset the Printer
- Power off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
3. Reinstall Cartridges
- Remove the new cartridges and reinstall them. Make sure to align them properly and ensure that they click into place.
4. Check for Firmware Updates
- There might be a firmware update that improves compatibility with third-party cartridges. Visit the HP Support website and check for the latest firmware update for your printer model.
5. Use Genuine HP Cartridges
- HP cartridges are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Using non-HP cartridges may result in compatibility issues or inaccurate ink level readings.
6. Disable Cartridge Protection
- Some HP printers have cartridge protection settings that might block non-HP cartridges. Access the printer settings through the HP Smart app or printer control panel, and disable the cartridge protection feature.
7. Troubleshoot Cartridge Recognition Issues
- Sometimes, the printer might not recognize the cartridges correctly. Clean the cartridge contacts with a lint-free cloth to remove any debris and improve recognition.
Let me know if it helped.
