Hi @Carpetesm,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printing!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP ENVY Inspire 7900 prints blurry only on #10 envelopes, here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
Adjust Print Quality Settings
- Open Printer Preferences on your computer.
- Go to Paper/Quality or Advanced Settings.
- Change the Print Quality to Best or High Resolution.
- If available, select Envelope as the paper type.
Use the Rear Paper Feed
- Envelopes may not feed well through the main tray, causing smudging.
- If your printer has a rear paper feed, try using that instead.
Adjust the Paper Type & Weight
- Go to Printer Preferences > Paper Type and select Thick Paper or Envelope.
- Envelopes have a different surface texture, and using the wrong setting may cause ink smearing.
Check Ink Smearing & Drying Time
- If ink is smudging:
- Go to Printer Preferences > Advanced Settings and enable "Reduce Ink Drying Time" if available.
- Let the envelope dry before touching.
- Try using a different brand of envelopes, as glossy or coated ones may not absorb ink well.
Clean the Printhead
- Open HP Smart App or Printer Maintenance Settings.
- Run a Printhead Cleaning to remove ink buildup.
Manually Align the Printhead
- Misalignment can cause blurriness.
- Go to Printer Settings > Tools > Align Printhead.
Print a Test Page
- Print a test document (like a Word page) on plain paper using the same settings.
- If it prints fine, the issue is with the envelope's material or thickness.
If none of these step's work, let me know, and we can try more solutions! 😊
