HP OfficeJet 8015e
Microsoft Windows 11

I literally just bought this printer brand new. It prints fine in black and white, but when I change the settings to have it print in color, it still continues to print in black and white. I have verified the ink cartridges are installed, etc.

Hi @djcstern,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 8015e is not printing in color even though you've selected color printing, there could be a few reasons for this issue. You can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  • Check Color Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the color ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Sometimes, a low or empty color ink cartridge can prevent color printing.
  • Print Settings: Double-check your print settings in the software or application from which you are printing. Make sure the color option is selected and not grayscale or black and white. Additionally, check the printer properties in your computer's control panel to ensure that color printing is enabled.
  • Printer Software: Ensure that you have the latest printer driver and software installed. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause printing issues. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest driver for your printer model.
  • Print a Test Page: Print a test page from the printer itself to determine if the problem is related to the printer or the computer. On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Settings or Maintenance menu and find the option to print a test page. If the test page prints in color, the issue may be with your computer or software.
  • Clean the Print Head: Sometimes, clogged print heads can prevent color ink from flowing properly. Most HP printers have a built-in utility for cleaning the print heads. Use this feature to clean the print heads and try printing in color again.
  • Check Color Preferences: In the printer settings on your computer, ensure that color preferences are set to "Color" or "Automatic." You can usually find this option in the printer properties or preferences when you select the printer in your computer's control panel.
  • Reinstall Printer: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling the printer from your computer and then reinstalling it. This can help resolve any software-related issues that may be causing the problem.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet 8015e not printing in color.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
