Hi @Jeepster4,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet 4650 cartridge issues!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Cartridge Compatibility:
- Double-check that the cartridge you're using is compatible with the HP OfficeJet 4650. The compatible cartridge models will be listed in the printer manual or online product page.
Reinsert the Cartridge:
- Remove the cartridge and check for any protective tape or residue that might be causing the issue. Carefully reinsert the cartridge, ensuring it fits snugly in the slot.
Clean the Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it. Remove the cartridge and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts in the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water. Allow to dry before reinserting.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and turn it back on.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Visit the HP Support page to download the latest firmware updates for your printer model.
Check Supply Levels:
- Use the printer's control panel or HP software to check if the cartridge has adequate ink levels, as a depleted cartridge may also lead to recognition issues.
I hope this helps.
