Hi
I cannot get my yellow ink to work. I have cleaned all cartridges at least 6 times. I have read the comments from other with the same problem. HP say to take the yellow in out. How do you do that when it is inside printer - seem to only be able to lift the lid to out in in - which is now full.
Please advise?
Thanks

Hi @Kerry7561,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I hear you, yellow ink giving you a hard time can be so frustrating, especially when you’ve tried cleaning it multiple times already! Let’s get this sorted and brighten things up again. 🌟
To remove the yellow ink from your HP Smart Tank 655, here’s a step-by-step guide:
Removing the Yellow Ink Cartridge:
-
Turn on the Printer:
- Make sure the printer is powered on; this will allow the printhead to move into position for removal.
-
Open the Ink Tank Lid:
- Lift the ink tank lid gently to access the printhead assembly. This is different from where you refill the ink bottles; it’s where the actual printhead is located.
-
Move to the Printhead:
- You should see the yellow cartridge as part of the printhead assembly. If the printhead is not accessible, check if there’s a latch or button to unlock its position.
-
Unlock the Printhead:
- Look for a gray or orange latch near the cartridges. Lift or press this latch to release the cartridges.
-
Remove the Yellow Cartridge:
- Carefully pull out the yellow cartridge. Avoid touching the copper contacts or nozzles, as they are sensitive to dirt and damage.
let me know how it goes, and we’ll troubleshoot further. We’ll make sure to get your yellow ink flowing again! 💛
We hope our assistance has been helpful!
Take care and have an amazing day!
