HP Smart Tank 7001 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 11

While printing in color I see there is no yellow that is printing even those my yellow ink is full. This is a tankless printer and I have no idea how to clean where the ink comes out of. I have done all the clean tests I can do on the HP Smart app and have done it multiple times. Printer is only 3 years old.

@alesak95, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Yellow Ink Not Printing on HP Smart Tank 7001!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

There are a few potential reasons why the yellow ink might not be printing even though the tank is full on your HP Smart Tank 7001. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

1. Check Ink Levels and Cartridges

  • Ensure the yellow ink tank is indeed full and properly seated in its slot. Even though it appears full, check that it is inserted correctly, and there are no obstructions or air bubbles.

2. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait about a minute, and then plug it back in and power it on. This can reset the printer and resolve temporary electronic issues.

3. Clean the Printhead

  • Manual Cleaning: If the automated cleaning cycles in the HP Smart app didn't work, you might need to manually clean the printhead. This usually involves removing the printhead and gently wiping the nozzles with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Be careful not to apply too much pressure, which might damage the nozzles.

4. Run a Quality Diagnostic Page

  • Use the control panel of the printer or the HP Smart app to print a diagnostic page. This will help identify if the issue persists across other colors or is isolated to yellow.

5. Reinitialize Printhead Alignment and Calibration

  • Sometimes the print quality or color issues can be fixed by re-aligning and calibrating the printheads through the printer settings or the HP Smart app.

6. Inspect for Air in the Ink Line

  • Sometimes air bubbles can form in the ink line and prevent color from printing. Checking and purging these lines might require professional service if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.

7. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes updates can fix bugs that cause printing issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I have already tried all of this and none of this works. Remember this is a tankless printer it does not have ink cartridges.

Hi @alesak95,

Thanks for getting back to us — and I totally get how frustrating it is when the yellow ink just won’t show up, especially after you've tried everything. Since your HP Smart Tank 7001 uses an ink tank system (no cartridges), and the cleaning cycles haven’t helped, it’s likely the issue is with a clogged printhead or an air bubble in the yellow ink line.

Here’s what I’d recommend next:

Manually clean the printhead: Gently wipe the yellow nozzle area with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.

Check for air bubbles: Tap the yellow tank gently or use the priming tool (if available) to make sure ink is flowing properly.

Make sure the vent on the yellow tank is open and clear.

Try a factory reset via the printer settings, just in case it’s a software glitch.

If none of that works, the printhead might need replacing.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Nope of that works. I can't take the ink cartridges out. The 2nd video you posted doesn't work for my printer. And the 1st video I have does that a thousand times.
