HP does not recommend usage of non HP ink as it damages the Printer.

Was the Printer working fine when you were using HP ink?

My 8600 printer was working fine for a few years with re-filled Black and color cartridges. I never had a problem, nor did it damage my printer. Since Costco stopped refilling, I had purchased two sets of carts online. One worked just fine with the expected non-hp printer message, however the second set did not and my printer appeared to be bricked and kept telling me the carts where damaged. I ordered another set from a different supplier and rec'd the same message. I suspected an HP firmware had update had occurred that took the non-hp ink capability away from my printer. Is this the case?
