Hi @Superteck,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your HP DeskJet 2800e shows a cartridge error, especially when you just want to print and get things done. Let’s go through the most effective recommended steps to clear this error.

Why This Happens

  • Cartridge not seated properly.
  • Dirty electrical contacts.
  • Using non-HP or expired cartridges.
  • Firmware or alignment issues.

Recommended Fix

Step 1: Check Cartridge Compatibility

Step 2: Reseat Cartridges

  1. Turn the printer ON.
  2. Open the cartridge access door.
  3. Remove both cartridges.
  4. Inspect for protective tape, remove if present.
  5. Reinsert cartridges firmly until they click.

Step 3: Clean Electrical Contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Let them dry for 5 minutes before reinserting.

Step 4: Update Firmware

Step 5: Reset the Printer

  • With the printer ON, unplug the power cord.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug back in and power ON.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
